Reading some great stuff at the mo-love anything to do with the crusades. Its an indication of the current climate that I notice I almost feel a certain guilt reading about that period. Its so evocative and full of intrigue and adventure. But at the same time deeply shocking in the levels of violence and cruelty so common during the middle ages. I believe its in first reading Runcimans History of the Crusades that I really began to foster a deep revulsion for christians.
