Bush breakfast with pals at Burnhope Pond Wood and road testing another Hobo Stove.
A brilliant and inspiring first session of the introductory BJJ course at Itaipava in Newcastle. I'm in there somewhere in a borrowed black Gi and a shiny heed. At age 55 I still get a huge thrill from Martial Arts.
Glenn Browns wonderful painting 'We all succumb to the molten core'. Currently at the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle.
Field testing my new homemade hobo stove. This is a great bit of kit. Its best with the opening facing a breeze so the fire can be fed with oxygen. It was relatively easy to light with the Tinder sticks, or 'Maya' sticks. When feathered these light quickly and burn with a fierce flame. I took along my own wood to get the fire going but used birch bark and local twigs as tinder.
